Assessment and Placement
No placement test is necessary for students enrolling in Beginner Aleph. Students who are already familiar with Hebrew letters may be grouped into a Beginner Aleph Plus class. All other new students are strongly encouraged to complete an oral assessment prior to enrollment. Just give us a call at (917) 446-6266 for a brief over-the-phone placement interview. If you prefer to complete a written test, you can try our online assessment or download a PDF version.
Please note that tuition is due upon registration. If we do not receive your payment within 7 days or at the start of the semester (whichever comes first), we will bill you for the unpaid amount. Your enrollment is not complete until your tuition is paid and you will not be able to enter the classroom without prior payment.
We accept checks and money orders by mail, and Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover online. No PayPal account is required to make a payment using your credit card, but PayPal account holders also have the option of paying with PayPal credit, existing funds, e-checks, and bank transfers.
Aliyah discount: We offer a 20% tuition discount for verified aliyah candidates who plan to make aliyah within one year. You must have (a) opened an aliyah file with JAFI, (2) submitted supporting documents to JAFI, and (3) scheduled or completed an interview with the shaliach in order to qualify for this discount.
Jewish educator discount: We offer a 10% tuition discount for verified Jewish educators.
Early enrollment discount: Students who register and pay for a winter course by Monday, December 23 can take 5% off tuition.
Please note that these discounts cannot be combined. Sorry, discounts are not available for our intensive courses. These courses are already heavily discounted from our regular class rate.
Students who drop a class before the class starts are entitled to a full refund. Students who drop a class within one week of starting the class will receive a refund or tuition credit in an amount equal to the unused tuition paid. No refunds will be made for students who drop a class after one week.
